our history

Our parent company, Copenhagen Group A/S, was established by our President and CEO, Jeppe Handwerk, in 2005 with the supply and delivery of 15 special-built trucks to the Limited Interim NATO Response Force CIS Capability in Afghanistan and 36 armoured vehicles to ISAF’s headquarters in Kabul, Afghanistan.

In 2007, our subsidiary, Copenhagen Contractors A/S, wins its first contract with NATO Maintenance and Supply Agency (NAMSA) for the supply, delivery, installation and operation of a forensic (mortuary) facility at Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan. On the basis of this contract with NAMSA, we establish our first office outside of Denmark at Kandahar Airfield. In 2008, we win yet another contract with NAMSA for the supply, delivery, installation and operation of a state-of-the-art fitness (gym) facility at Kandahar Airfield.

In 2008, our subsidiary, Copenhagen Election A/S, wins its first few contracts for the provision of electoral materials, i.e. indelible ink and ballot boxes, for elections in Lebanon and Egypt.

In 2011, our subsidiary, Copenhagen Global A/S, wins its first long term agreement for the provision of heavy-duty trucks, fire trucks and buses to international humanitarian missions worldwide, together with our long-term Italian partner, IVECO. Over the course of the next few years, we win a number of long-term agreements for the supply and delivery of trucks, vehicles and equipment to international organisations worldwide together with CNH Industrial and the IVECO Group.

In 2013, we win our first contract with the Danish Defence for the provision of wash-down and disinfection services worldwide.

In 2016, we close down our operations in Afghanistan by handing over our last facility, the mortuary at Kandahar Airfield, to the United States.

In 2020, in response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, we launch Copenhagen Medical A/S as part of Copenhagen Contractors A/S in order to offer rapid COVID-19 test kits by SD Biosensor Inc. and COVID-19 testing services to public and private customers in Denmark.

our star

Our logo, the “star”, is of special importance and meaning to our President and CEO, Jeppe Handwerk.

The “star” was designed as a trademark for “Odense Konservesfabrik”, a Danish cannery, by Jeppe Handwerk’s great grandfather back in 1927, when he founded the company.

The star is inspired by the Verda Stelo, the “Green Star”, used by Esperanto speakers.

In 2022, we upgraded the star to make it a bit more modern with clean lines.
